New Business: Upcoming Bingo Night Event
Ask for canned food donations at game, bring an item and get a free bingo board (all approved) Where to donate food TBD.
Set up a volunteer form for bingo night (Natalie will handle) and prepare flyer ASAP
Ideas for bingo night details: gift certificates to restaurants (Just Peachy, Wingstop, Dairy Queen may be able to donate) Bag up leftover Trunk or Treat candy to sell with concessions during event to cut down on food costs.
Next Popcorn Friday is November 21 before school break, volunteers needed (Staci)
Should we still set up restaurant fundraisers with MOD Pizza, Panda Express, Chuck E Cheese? (No oppositions) Details needed for dates, but most likely after the new year.

+251.57 in Venmo/Cash donations for Trunk or Treat candy

-618.84 Trunk or Treat candy purchase

Meeting Goal: establish details and needs of Trunk or Treat event
New bank deposits from past fundraisers came in: $250 from Panera, $215 from t-shirt sales. Will be allocated to purchasing candy for event. (20 bags purchased from Costco while on sale.)
Ideas to generate donations & highlight event: sign on school field fence with date and donation QR code. Have student helpers at drop-off time in front of school with signs on Friday. (Connie and Jenny will find students to participate, Jenny to supervise in AM.)
Are we getting mini pumpkins again? Who donated them last year? (Walmart via local farm)
Are we still able to have a photo area for families during the event? (Sadly no, the family who ran that for us no longer attends Centennial. Will circle back if mentioned after on.)
Looking Ahead: Next year, can we coordinate with Mount Vernon Police for High-Five Friday to promote Trunk or Treat? (Chad will make note to inquire later on.) Can we create an entrance and exit area to corral foot traffic? (Will need two canopy tents, but could work.)

PTC Meeting Minutes Oct. 28, 2024
Unfinished/In Progress Business
- Certified staff reimbursements still available until December (3 given so far)
- Trunk-or-Treat was a success! Ran out for candy twice but did not affect distribution much. Interactive trunks will have their own area next time to keep from traffic buildup.
- Food truck fell through, will find more reliable source next time
- Extended order for t-shirts filled and being delivered this week
Upcoming Events
- Popcorn Friday on Nov. 22 (will most likely be covered for volunteers)
- Family Reading night TBD (check back with Julie and Chad)
- Winter Concert on Dec. 17: Jenny & Rene will find last schedule to refine for this year, including where to hold students before and after performances, and intermission time
New Business
- Class Act Theatre School: costs $3,000 for all materials included, produces a play over 10 days, all students who audition receive a role and get a say in which part they want, 80 students is the max per production (extras go onto waitlist), ticket sales are not necessary but will need to have some fundraiser or sales to recoup cost, Centennial staff have no responsibility in scheduling or rehearsals.
- Website is up but does not have much information, will add an area for donation information and email signups
- Rene’s sister will continue supporting us with business fundraisers and will look into a Kroger/Fred Meyer grocery give-back program for us
- Taxes for PTC were filed by Mary Taylor recently
- Spelling Bee fee approved for $175
- Bingo Night will be in January, discussed reaching out to businesses for donations again since we have ample notice. Reaching out to Rosa for extra help in receiving donations.
- Still looking for Event Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator, added possibility of co-chair to manage positions
PTC Meeting Notes – September 23rd, 2024
Topics/Notes:
Unfinished/In Progress Business:
- Centennial gear orders are available until 10/4
- Staff reimbursement up to $100 is available until the end of December. Website was unclear about shipping. Verified that it was corrected and updated.
Upcoming Events:
- 9/27 is our first popcorn Friday. We have volunteers for all shifts. Staci will check and buy needed supplies. Will look into finding donations for future popcorn Fridays as this is a event fully funded by PTC.
- Trunk or Treat will be October 25th 4:30-6:00. Will be asking for candy and money donations. Will look into getting non candy treats also but may be too expensive. Need to ask for volunteers to decorate their cars. Will think of ways to streamline the trick or treating and to lessen kids from double dipping. Will ask for student helpers to greet and hand out candy as we had in previous years. Need a paper flyer to go out ASAP. Mary and Jag will set up a photo booth, but they would like someone else to handle it.
- 10/28 staff dinner will be provided during conferences by PTC. Will purchase from COA. Will have a social media post for parents to donate beverages and treats with signups.
- Book fair is 10/28- 10/30. They were able to move it to the week of conferences which makes it easier to promote it and assist in sales.
New Business:
Next PTC meeting will be October 28th at 3:30. Since this is during conferences and the library will be used for the book fair, the meeting will take place in Jenny’s classroom. We will continue to have PTC meetings the 4th Monday of the month. Not sure if childcare is provided. minutes from our meeting on September 23
There will be a Spanish heritage movie night, October 9th at 5:30. They asked if PTC would donate dinner for the event. Unsure of the number of people that will attend. May be too expensive. Can we help with a snack? Can we donate a dollar amount that they can use towards a purchase? Also suggested Mexican bread and hot chocolate as an alternative to a providing a meal. Will ask for clarification before determining.
Councilors were given leftover food from last year’s PTC stash that they have used when counseling students. Were wondering if that is something that PTC can regularly help with. Teachers in attendance of the PTC meeting were concerned that the students would tell friends about the goodies and kids would try to get out of class to get them. We have a fresh fruit and veggie grant to help with afternoon snacks. Juana can use her $100 staff reimbursement to pay snacks if need be.
Suggested a catalog that students can take home and sell items as a school fundraiser. Didn’t believe it was a good idea.
Need to book dates for upcoming fundraisers.
Chuckee Cheese fundraiser looking at the month of November. Last year we made around $600. Maybe do this fundraiser twice a year.
Mod Pizza fundraiser. Usually make around $300. Amy will look into and book.
Skate night in March. Amy will book a date. Decided to not make this a fundraiser just a fun night.
Panda Express and Gymnastics fundraisers will be researched to add to our list.
Bingo Night. Tentative date of November 15th 5:00-7:00. 20 pizzas were ordered last year. Were asked to not provide sticky things. Only water, candy and chips. Discussion on the fact that no money is made during Bingo nights. It is not considered a fundraiser in that we lose around $300. Was also discussed that not everything needed to be a fundraiser and could be a community event.
There will be a family reading night but do not have a date set yet.
There will be a December singing concert. Unsure of date.
Lots of financial questions. Does the cost of events exceed what is raised? If we fundraise $10,000 at the jog a thon, then our expenses are covered. Need to follow the PTC mission statement and decide whether the event is a school sponsored event or a PTC supported event. Will look at other ways to save money and to make money. Open to ideas.
The school is entering the 3rd year of the reading program. Encouraging students to read 30 minutes every night.
There is a new learning program for kindergarten students. They will work more on phonics.
Mount Vernon School District is working on their 6 year plan. They have hired a strategic consultant to come in and interview 25-30 students to see what they like and don’t like about school. These surveys will help to drive the district the next 6 years.
There are about 440 students enrolled at the school. The 1st and 3rd grades are completely full and actually closed to not allow any more students even students in our boundaries.
We discussed that there are two open positions that need to be filled for PTC. Tania is interested in the Event Coordinator position and will let us know.
